Many people think that Christianity is all about trying our hardest to be good people and get God on our side. That it’s all about doing and rules. That makes it all seem a bit dry and dreary and can make us think that Christians are those who think they’re doing better than everybody else.
One of the books of the Bible starts off by saying this: “The beginning of the good news…” (Mark 1:1). The Christian faith is the announcement of good news! The best news. Doing and rules aren’t good news. That sentence goes on, “The beginning of the good news about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God”. At the heart of the Christian faith is Jesus: who he is, and what he came to do. Christians believe that he is God who came to live among us, and remove all the barriers between us and God by his death. The good news isn’t about us working hard to get to God, but God coming to us. It is an announcement about what Jesus has done for us so that we can have a relationship with the God who made us and loves us.
We get together each Sunday to celebrate this good news. We’d love for you to join us!
